BIS! Toneel in het Zuiden

Theater at the Vrijthof and Parkstad Limburg Theaters together offer a stage for BIS companies. This way you can enjoy the crown jewels of the Dutch theater scene and their fantastic performances close to home.

But what are BIS companies? BIS stands for Basic Infrastructure. This is the backbone of the Dutch cultural system, because the makers and organizations connected to the BIS present high-quality products with the support of the Dutch government. Nine theater companies, including the International Theater Amsterdam, Het Nationale Toneel and Toneelgroep Maastricht, are BIS companies. You recognize the productions of these companies by high artistic and substantive quality, social value and innovation. They also give creative interpretation to the assignment to pass on our historical and cultural canon to future generations.
