Metropole Orkest & Richard Bona

Metropole Orkest & Richard Bona

Richard Bona and Metropole Orkest are back! Led by honorary conductor Vince Mendoza, the charismatic bassist and the orchestra present a seamless mix of musical worlds and styles in February 2025.

Like the Metropole Orkest, Richard Bona is known for his love of mixing jazz with his musical roots and influences from world and pop music. Bona started in Cameroon as a multi-instrumentalist, the music of Jaco Pastorius inspiring him to specialise as a bass player. Throughout his career, he is constantly expanding his musical world by collaborating with artists such as Joe Zawinul, Salif Keita, George Benson, Chaka Khan, Pat Metheny, Quincy Jones and Alfredo Rodriguez.

Enjoy orchestral versions of Bona's best work and newly composed music.

The orchestra and the bassist are no strangers. Metropole Orkest invited Bona as a soloist for its International Arrangers Workshop in 2013 and found each other there in the vision of music as a universal language. Having shared the stage again at the Quincy Jones Prom in 2016 and during a tour of the Netherlands in 2023, they have now found the perfect moment to work on creating a rich mix of musical styles.
