Tangoles voor mensen met Parkinson
Tango para Todos
Tango para Todos is a new initiative, subsidized by the municipality of Roermond, designed to bring the joy and benefits of Argentine tango to people with Parkinson's disease. Rooted in the vibrant culture of Buenos Aires in the late 19th century, Argentine tango is an improvised dance that transcends age, background, and experience, traditionally connecting people of all types, ages, and genders.
Workshop
The workshop addresses people with Parkinson's and anyone interested in knowing more about this topic. It aims to support the inclusive and connective power of tango to enhance the well-being of participants.
Participants are encouraged to join with a partner, whether it is a spouse, friend, or family member. In Argentine tango, every pair consists of a leader and a follower, but roles are flexible and can be chosen based on comfort. This workshop offers an introduction to the basics of tango, focusing on movement vocabulary, rhythm, and connection.
Meet Your Instructors
The workshop will be led by Kathinka Poismans, a tango teacher, professional musician, and music therapist, alongside Marika Meoli, a professional dancer and dance movement therapist. Together, they bring a richness of expertise in both dance and therapeutic practices, ensuring a supportive experience for all the participants.
The Benefits
Scientific research has demonstrated that Argentine tango can significantly improve the physical and mental well-being of people with Parkinson's and their dance partners. This workshop is therefore an opportunity to experience a first taste of this powerful dance style in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Practical Information
While traditional tango often features women dancing in heels, comfortable, well-fitting shoes are perfectly suitable for this workshop. We recommend wearing clothing that allows for ease of movement, ensuring you can fully enjoy the experience.

Continue Your Tango Journey
For those interested in further exploring Argentine tango, we are pleased to offer a follow-up opportunity. Starting in November, participants can join a free 10-week tango course in Roermond. By the end of the course, participants will have a foundation in tango, with the ability to dance independently. The course will end with an artistic project: a video clip featuring both teachers and participants dancing tango, filmed in the beautiful setting of Roermond.
