Sweet like a chocolate
ICK Dans Amsterdam
An intimate spectacle with Beethoven's fifth symphony as an open ending.
Sweet Like a Chocolate is an intimate dance spectacle that seduces you, blows you over with a hint of Beethoven and leaves you with yourself again in a rush of ecstasy and doubt. A woman dances with her shadows, alter ego, companion and voyeur. It follows her, accompanies her, dances and fights with her. The figure around her can be real, but also a creature from her imagination.
Sweet Like a Chocolate is a reworking of Double Points: Hell from 2005, which was presented three years later at the international Tanzfestival NRW at the invitation of Pina Bausch. In the eyes of Emio Greco and Pieter C. Scholten, hell is the schizophrenic search for who you are, what your identity is. The dancer goes through different phases and moods in the search for her own self, while being looked at from all sides. What does this say about how women are (allowed to be) seen? Balancing between love, trust, female sexuality and violence, Sweet Like a Chocolate exposes existential questions.
