Le Chant des ruïnes (theaterreis naar Hasselt)
Cie Michèle Noiret
Since her award-winning solo Demain, Michèle Noiret's work has revolved around the world and its challenges. In this new creation, the choreographer reflects on that rat race, the general flight forward, driven by an urge to live that is as enigmatic as it is dangerous.
Together with David Drouard, she responds to this disturbing and aggressive chaos, which dizzies the world without taking away all hope. From that duality, she brings a breath of fresh air, a new scenic writing. Michèle Noiret's faithful travelling companions Todor Todoroff and Vincent Pinckaers are also back in the mix. With sound and video, they enrich the images on stage, which express the transience of humanity with fault lines and surprising twists.
'The liquid state seems to me to be a good metaphor for today's society.' This is how Polish sociologist Zygmunt Bauman describes the frenzy of the modern world. That fleeting and ephemeral way of life that constantly plunges man into uncertainty. In the face of ever-changing customs, man lacks a foothold, which prevents him from drawing lasting lessons from his experiences ...
