What does it mean to be father and son? Which traumas do you pass on and which do you let go? Five performers search for their identities and relationships to each other. Dalton Jansen was inspired by the story of his own father, who came to the Netherlands as a young Curaçao immigrant in the 1990s and raised his son based on the ideas of the Rastafari.
With the performance, Jansen hopes to dismantle stereotypes: Being Rastafari means more than just dreadlocks, cannabis and reggae. It is a lifestyle of peace, love and harmony. Rastas feel a stronger connection to nature, the earth, the community and the spiritual. What can we learn from this in a time of polarization and individualism?
