Op weg naar Kerstmis
Stile Antico
British vocal ensemble Stile Antico walks us through the Christmas story with 16th- and 17th-century music.
After the Gregorian ode to the creator of heaven and earth (Conditor alme siderum), we make five stops: A Voice from Heaven, The Obedience of Mary, The Joy of the Angels, The Eagerness of the Shepherds and The Perseverance of the Wise Men. At each stop we hear sound scenes from masters such as William Byrd, Michael Praetorius, Claudio Monteverdi, John Sheppard and Orlande de Lassus, whose jubilant Resonet in laudibus leaves no doubt: the child is born!
In collaboration with Organisatie Oude Muziek.
