Nagging, grunting, gentle soul-searching or heartbreaking whining: pain can be expressed in an infinite number of ways. Add music to that mix and you get a stunning array of songs that search between complaint, regret and hope for points of light in the darkness.
Contra tenor Maarten Engeltjes and the ensemble PRJCT Amsterdam, which he founded, put together a special programme. With a heart for baroque and contemporary repertoire, Engeltjes ensures in every performance that his own wonder at well-known and lesser-known masterpieces is also intensely experienced by the audience.
In association with Organisatie Oude Muziek.
