Georgia Burashko (mezzosopraan)
Dutch Classical Talent
In Beauty Awake, Canadian mezzo-soprano Georgia Burashko sings about some of life's great themes: childhood, love, heartbreak and eternity. It is a very diverse anthology, with English-language songs from the Elizabethan Renaissance to the High Baroque and later. She is accompanied by a highly agile ensemble of two violas and a lute. With her heart for contemporary composers, she also performs works by her compatriot Danika Lorèn, Dolly Parton as well as a new piece by Dutch composer Karmit Fadael.
Dutch Classical Talent as a talent programme, is a household name in the Dutch classical music world. The laureates of Dutch Classical Talent include names such as Tania Kross, Lavinia Meijer, Nora Fischer, Van Baerle Trio and the Berlage Saxophone Quartet. Through auditions, a professional jury chooses four top talents. These four young musicians will develop in a coaching programme and tour the 12 biggest concert halls in the Netherlands to put their names on the map. Their programmes are thought-provoking, topical, moving and spectacular.
This concert is part of the series de Zondagklassiekers.
