A love poem that transcends time and space. Richard Wagner's Prelude und Liebestod from Tristan und Isolde is an ode to the unbreakable bond between two lovers. Like no one else, Wagner translates human emotions into seemingly endless garlands of lustful sound. Completely lose yourself in unadulterated drama.
The fatal conflic between power and love
Equally intoxicating and modern is his opera music for Die Walküre. Star conductor Hartmut Haenchen has been a regular guest conductor at philharmonie zuidnederland for years and is now making a spectacular Walküre journey through Wagner's universe together with the orchestra. Haenchen knows Wagner's sizzling musical theatre like the back of his hand. For example, he has conducted the complete Der Ring des Nibelungen several times, including the legendary performances with De Nederlandse Opera.
‘One of the musical highlights of the year.’
