Mezzo-soprano and world star Magdalena Kožená is a succesful soloist who performs with top orchestras and shines in renowned opera theatres. Kožená also has a special place in her heart for Philzuid’s chief conductor Duncan Ward. She met Duncan when he was 20 years old, assisting Kožená’s husband and star conductor Simon Rattle with the famed Berliner Philharmoniker. "Duncan was still so young, but the musicians showed him great respect," she said. Philzuid is proud to host her for two masterpieces in one evening. She sings the enchanting vocal adventure Where are you? by Adámek and the solo in the final movement of Mahler's Fourth Symphony, in which earthly tears and heavenly joys merge in highly romantic orchestral music.
