Beleef Eine Alpensinfonie
Philzuid
Rising mists, darkened sun, glittering glaciers, storms and thunderstorms... Be transported to symphonic heights during Eine Alpensinfonie by Richard Strauss.
The composer who became famous with tone poems like Don Juan and Till Eulenspiegels lustige Streiche was a musical master storyteller. He wrote this Alpensinfonie in his composition room with panoramic views of the majestic mountain landscape. In twenty-two evocative, musical scenes, he takes you on an adventurous mountain climb, from sunrise to evening. Eine Alpensinfonie challenges orchestra and conductor to the highest peaks of their abilities. Before the interval, chief conductor Duncan Ward conducts the European premiere of a horn concerto written especially for the orchestra.
Horn soloist Ben Goldscheider is described by BBC Music Magazine as "a young man of timeless talent"
