Bachs Matthäus-Passion

Some three hundred years ago, the first performance of the Matthäus-Passion took place in Leipzig's Thomaskirche. Together with lyricist Picander, Bach created a grand masterpiece for two orchestras, two choirs, children's choir and vocal soloists. Jos van Veldhoven's last Matthäus with ‘his’ Nederlandse Bachvereniging was praised in the Volkskrant for its ‘transparent sound’, ‘dramatic moments’ and ‘swinging performance’. Be deeply moved by Bach's brilliant rendering of the Passion of Jesus, with beloved arias such as Erbarme dich and Aus Liebe.
