Weihnachtsoratorium
Ad Mosam Barok
‘Jauchzet, frohlocket’, who doesn’t know these beautiful notes of the opening choir in Bach's Weihnachtsoratorium? Once timpani, flutes, and oboes catch our attention and exuberant trumpets take us into a cascade of merrily tumbling violin figures, the great musical feast of hope and expectation erupts.
No works of Bach are as connected to Christmas as much as the Weihnachtsoratorium. He wrote the six Cantantes for the three Christmas days and the following three Sundays. Each cantante tells its own story with its own musical atmosphere. Ad Mosam Barok executes the Weihnachtsoratorium with old instruments but in the actual interpretation. No Christmas without a ‘Jauchzet, frohlocket’!
