De nieuwe lichting

The young guitarists Antonio Molina García and Marcos Álvarez González, both from Spain, are master students under Carlo Marchione at Conservatorium Maastricht. 

Marcos Álvarez González fell for the classical guitar at the age of six, studied in A Coruña and completed his studies in 2020 with honorable mentions, such as the Prize of Excellence of the Conservatories of Galicia. With short explanations in between, he likes to share with his audience the magic of this instrument, intimate as well as expressive, melodic and at the same time polyphonic, in short an orchestra in miniature. 

Antonio Molina García studied at the conservatories of Cartagena and Murcia before coming to the Netherlands. He also won prizes, including final places at competitions in Xixona and Castalla. This passionate and sincere guitarist puts his whole heart and soul into both existing repertoire and his own compositions and transcriptions of Liszt, Strauss and Bach, among others.
