Oh! Quand je dors
Ekaterina Levental (mezzosopraan & harp)
Uzbek mezzo-soprano and harpist Ekaterina Levental tells her personal story in this program.
Oh! Quand je dors is the title, taken from a song by Franz Liszt. Levental explores the power of dreams and imagination to find hope and inspiration. While doing so, she talks about her own childhood dreams, but also about the dreams of the composers whose work she sings: what were their dreams and what can we learn from them? One such composer is the Dutch Anna Cramer, who was born in Amsterdam 150 years ago. Despite her exceptional talent, she never received recognition, but with her intransigence and willfulness, she is an inspiration to Ekaterina.
