Mattias Spee (piano)
Dutch Classical Talent
Dutch pianist and composer Mattias Spee is mesmerized by the night. In his programme, he explores the emotions a person can feel during the different stages of a sleepless night.
A concert like a journey through the night - with its own work and pieces by composers such as Chopin, Poulenc and Skrjabin, who have been inspired by the mysterious, elusive nature of the night. From the jury report: 'A quirky and versatile musician improvises and composes. Both in his playing, his appearance and his choice of repertoire, his rebellious and activist character is reflected.'
Dutch Classical Talent as a talent programme, is a household name in the Dutch classical music world. The laureates of Dutch Classical Talent include many resounding names such as Tania Kross, Lavinia Meijer, Nora Fischer, Van Baerle Trio and the Berlage Saxophone Quartet. Through auditions, a professional jury chooses four top talents. These four young musicians will develop in a coaching programme and tour the 12 biggest concert halls in the Netherlands to put their names on the map. Their programmes are thought-provoking, topical, moving and spectacular.
This concert is part of a series de Zondagklassiekers.
