La Bête et les Perles
Ensemble Zuiderwind en Bert Koch (piano)
The wind quintet of Ensemble Zuiderwind will go 'Southwards!' for this program with pianist Bert Koch. To the Paris of the late nineteenth and early decades of the twentieth century. Where two successive world exhibitions set the optimistic tone of a glorious future. A future in which French composed music would also share: colourful, humorous, light and yet firm, smooth and above all full of France's unparalleled 'joie de vivre'. Music that sounds like glasses in Le Dôme, La Coupole and La Rotonde, the establishments where the top artists used to gather. Wonderful music by Ibert, Milhaud, Debussy, Poulenc and Roussel. With a glass afterwards to toast to our own future.
