All the way Bach
Philippe Thuriot (accordeon)
All the way Bach may be considered Philippe Thuriot's opus magnum. It is the best of a four-decade exploration of a wide variety of musical genres. His musical trajectory is like a pendulum swing between classical music, contemporary baroque and jazz.
Choosing between these styles would be a true self-denial for Philippe. In All the way Bach, all the ways of this accordionist come together. Thuriot draws inspiration from Bach's orchestral works, as well as his preludes and fugues for harpsichord. Parts from the violin sonatas are given a makeover. Bach's works are unravelled to the bone. They become X-rays. And Philippe re-dresses them after this in his own inimitable way.
This concert is part of the series de Zondagklassiekers.
‘All the way Bach’ is a surprising programme paying tribute to the world's biggest musical genius.
