On Wolfert Brederode's new album Ruins and Remains (2022 ECM Records), the group members form a many-headed creature, making the music much more than just a duo of piano and percussion complemented by a string quartet.
Influences from jazz, minimalistic, classical, folk and contemporary music flow together naturally in this cross-genre project. Ruins and Remains is originally inspired by the end of World War I and can be seen as a musical contemplation on human resilience.
In association with Jazz Maastricht.
