Twelve years after Ntjam Rosie’s second album ELLE her distinctive sound and idiosyncratic vision of jazz and soul still resonates. Back then the Dutch-Cameroon singer especially wanted to prove herself. Now she is looking at new musical possibilities and new sounds with fresh eyes. She decided together with the men of SMANDEM to make a selection of songs from her album ELLE and edit them and bring them to the present on the EP ELLE (Reworked). The results are energetic and unpolished but at the same time languid and mellow. ‘Rosie’s voice dances charmingly over the notes in English, French and Bulu - a language from Cameroon - with inspiration, freedom and control,' said the NRC.
